Turkish Soccer Prince impresses in trials

Emin Altunay, the winner of Soccer Prince in Turkey returned to the UK in early December for a week of training and a trial at English League Two high flyers Fleetwood Town.

Seventeen year old Emin, spent a year being developed by Liverpool FC before returning to his home city of Hatay in Turkey last summer.

Despite interest from a host of Turkish clubs Emin is keen to play in Europe to continue his development and was quick to accept an offer from Fleetwood’s Development Squad Manager, Craig Madden, to return to the UK for a trial.

After a week of intensive training Emin took to the field in a youth team game against Crewe Alexandra at Nantwich under the watchful eyes of Madden, Kickworldwide coach Paul Jones and QPR scouting analyst Ian Butterworth, who nurtured Emin during the Turkey show.

All three were delighted with Emin’s performance which exuded confidence and typified his dedicated attitude to the game.

Madden commented “He (Emin) was the best player on the pitch. His work rate was exceptional and I was really pleased by his performance, especially after just one week of training. It has been a pleasure to have him at the club where he has been very popular with the other boys”

Butterworth was equally delighted at Emin’s display, saying “he created a chance and really should have scored within the first minute of the game. If he can continue to show that type of attitude, creativity and work rate then he has what it takes to make real progress in the game”

Emin returned to Turkey ahead of the Christmas period but will return to Europe in January to join one of three clubs currently keen on signing the young Turk.
