Academy call for Kabi

The first series of Soccer Prince in Saudi Arabia yielded an unexpected bonus for one young man and Kickworldwide.

The last boy to be eliminated before the grand finale was 17 year old Abdullah Salem Saleh. Despite having fallen at the final hurdle, Abdullah or ‘Kabi’ as he is known to his friends, remained determined to try and achieve his dream of playing professional football.

Helped by his brother Riyadh, Kabi arrived in the UK unannounced in August and travelled to Liverpool hoping to get a trial. Of course, things are not that easy and Kabi soon found himself running out of time on his visa to try and visit some clubs.

It was then that Kickworldwide were notified of Kabi’s arrival in the UK and arranged for him to visit the pro football academy in Stockport, near Manchester, for a trial.

Kabi settled in immediately and made an instant impression on the Academy Director Alan Lord who has an excellent track record when it comes to the development of young players.

Kabi was able to combine some tourism with some informal football training and quickly became a popular figure within the academy and at Conference North Club, Stockport County where he was able to watch several games.

Sadly, Kabi’s visit was brought to an end as his visit visa was about to expire and there was a tearful farewell at the Academy base in Cheadle Heath.

The good news for Kabi is that the Academy Director was impressed enough to invite him back next year subject to him obtaining an appropriate visa. Kickworldwide is now working with a number of partners to try and make Kabi’s dream come true.
