COD ARMY LOOK TO BUILD ON FOUNDATIONS
Fleetwood Town are looking to build on the partnership developed with Uzbekistan side, Lokomotiv Tashkent during the coming year.
The League One side signed a historic partnership agreement with the Uzbek Premier League outfit in April 2015 with a view to sharing experience and looking to develop mutually beneficial commercial opportunities.
The partnership has been facilitated by Kickworldwide and Art UZ Promotions from Tashkent.
Fleetwood CEO Steve Curwood flew out to Tashkent with Technical Director Gretar Steinsson in June last year to meet with their Uzbek counterparts and there have been two visits from Lokomotiv representatives to the UK during the second half of 2015.
The partnership has made the football headlines in Central Asia with the brands of both clubs being enhanced by the media attention.
Kickworldwide Directors will be back in Tashkent in February 2016 to discuss the next stage of the relationship with a view to monetising the partnership between the two clubs.
On the agenda will be Fleetwood Town Football schools in the UK and Tashkent, coaches delivering programmes in Uzbek schools, an end of season tour by the Cod Army to Central Asia and the possibility of a Soccer Prince show in Uzbekistan with Fleetwood featuring as the main prize.
As part of the relationship two of Lokomotiv’s talented young under 19’s joined Fleetwood last year for a three month development programme. Rustam Nartadjiev and Sergey Prokhorov joined Barry Nicholson’s development squad and thoroughly enjoyed the experience expressing their desire to return to the club.
